Bulls Welcome Amber Atkinson for 2016 Season

TAMPA, May 15, 2015 – The Bulls announced the addition of Amber Atkinson this week as the fourth member of the team's 2015 signing class.

"Amber is an extremely talented and versatile player that will add a different dimension to our lineup," said head coach Ken Eriksen. "We are extremely excited to add her to our team and we look forward to seeing her contributions over the next two seasons."

The junior college standout spent two seasons at Indian River State College after a successful four-years at Lecanto High School. Atkinson was named the FCSAA State Player of the Year this season and has been an FSCAA First-Team All-State performer for the past two years at Indian River. She also served as team captain this season and batted .442 en route to earning Southern Conference Player of the Year honors.

Atkinson was a four-year starter for Lecanto High School and was named to the all-county team every year while also serving as team captain her junior and senior seasons. She holds 16 school records including runs, RBIs, doubles, triples and home runs.

As a sophomore, Atkinson set the school's single-season triples record and followed that by breaking the single-season home runs record as a junior. During her senior campaign, she broke her own home run record set the previous season to earn Citrus Country Softball Player of the Year honors for the second consecutive season and was also named Citrus County Female Athlete of the Year.

Atkinson was also a four-year member of the volleyball and weightlifting teams at Lecanto, earning all-county honors in both sports. She graduated with honors in 2013 before her two-year stint at Indian River State College. Atkinson joins fall signees Cheyenne Eggens, Samantha Worrell and Lindsey Devitt as members of the Bulls' 2015 signing class that will join the team this fall.
