TAMPA, JULY 16, 2015 – The 2014-15 season was filled with fantastic moments for USF Athletics and head coach Jose Fernandez's women's basketball team provided plenty of thrills.
The Bulls received their highest-ever ranking at No. 24 in the WBCA coaches' poll after tying the program record with 27 wins. USF was ranked in the AP Top 25 twice and started its postseason run by making it to the conference tournament championship game for the first time.
The fun continued during the NCAA Selection Show, when USF received news of its best-ever seeding for the NCAA tournament along with a chance to host tournament games for the first time. Playing as the sixth seed, USF ignited a crowd of nearly 6,000 inside an electric Sun Dome during a 73-64 victory over No. 11 seed LSU.
USF nearly reached the Sweet 16 for the first time, falling in the final minutes to Louisville with more than 5,000 fans on hand to watch the season finale.
“We had a remarkable year,” Fernandez said.
Expectations are high for the upcoming season with the Bulls returning their entire starting lineup, including Courtney Williams and Alisia Jenkins. Fans can make a deposit on season tickets for the 2015-16 run by calling 1-800-GoBulls.
