Top 2014-15 Feats: Bulls Thrive in American Tourney

From the football team's historic comeback at Tulsa to the Learfield Cup standings, 2014-15 was a memorable season for USF Athletics. Before we turn the page to the exciting season ahead, let's take a look back at some of USF Athletics' top feats in a 10-installment summer series.

TAMPA, JULY 2, 2015 – Head coach George Kiefer's USF men's soccer team has been a consistent conference title contender since joining The American.

The Bulls hoisted the conference trophy in 2013 after outlasting UConn in penalty kicks to win the inaugural American tournament in Texas. The Bulls played for it all once again in 2014 thanks to a gutsy effort on a chilly November night in Storrs, Conn.

USF's rematch with UConn in The American semifinals featured 110 minutes of scoreless soccer in sub-freezing temperatures before the Bulls took over in penalty kicks. American Goalkeeper of the Year Spasoje Stefanovic made two clutch saves as UConn missed all four of its opportunities. Gerardo Hernandez and Edwin Moalosi also delivered with two goals as USF knocked off the top-seeded Huskies.

Kiefer's squad will look to book a third consecutive trip to The American tournament championship in 2015 after falling to Tulsa in penalty kicks last year. Fans of the Green and Gold have a prime opportunity to watch USF attempt to accomplish the feat. This upcoming season's American semifinals and championship will be held right here in Tampa at Corbett Stadium on campus.
