Moros Adds Brooke Lashway for 2016-17 Season

TAMPA (May 6, 2015)— University of South Florida head women's tennis coach Cristina Moros announced today the signing of Brooke Lashway to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Bulls beginning in the fall of 2016.

"Not only do I feel Brooke is an exceptional tennis player but I am also thrilled on the type of quality individual we are adding to our team,” Moros said.  “I value very deeply the character of the girls on the team and Brooke is a terrific student that comes from a very close and athletic family.”

Lashway will join a Bulls' squad that has completely transformed under first-year head coach Moros. After winning just four matches in 2015, the Bulls went 15-6 overall under Moros and advanced to the American Athletic Conference Tournament championship match. Moros believes that Lashway will be able to immediately contribute and help the program advance to the next level.

“I feel she is very much like the current state of our program,” Moros said. “While we are an improving program on the rise, Brooke is the same, and has a ton of potential to be make a huge impact on the college tennis scene in her next four years as a student-athlete.  Brooke will play a big role in continuing to take this program to next level.”

Lashway's highlights include being a quarter finalist at the prestigious Eddie Herr Tournament and championship at the Florida Open national event.  Her two older sisters also play collegiate tennis. Brianna and Brittany both attend the University of Missouri and compete for the Tigers.

Hailing from Bradenton, Fla. Lashway joins Hailey Grillo (Fort Myers, Fla.) as the only Florida natives on the roster. Lashway joins an extremely multicultural team, with athletes from Spain, Russia, Brazil, Serbia, Mexico and Zimbabwe.
