Box Score 2 TAMPA (April 27, 2017) – The USF softball team swept a midweek doubleheader with FGCU, with a 1-0 victory in game one and a 9-2 victory in game two. The Bulls are now 31-21 on the season and have reached the 30-win mark for the last seven seasons, and for the 19th time under head coach Ken Eriksen.
Hannah Parker was stellar in game one, tossing six shutout innings for her tenth win of the year, giving USF its 30th win of the season.
In game two, the offense came alive as the Bulls used a six-run fifth to propel themselves to victory.
GAME ONE: USF 1, FGCU 0
An Astin Donovan RBI single in the fifth inning was the difference maker as the USF softball team topped FGCU, 1-0, in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Bulls put together a two-out rally in the fifth to plate the game's first run. AnaMarie Bruni doubled with two outs to bring up the top of the order. Kristen Wyckoff beat out a bunt for a single to put runners on the corners for Donovan.
On the first pitch of her at-bat, Donovan singled through the right side, plating Bruni to give USF the lead.
Donovan would come in clutch in the seventh, fielding a single to centerfield and throwing out the runner at home to secure the victory.
Hannah Parker would scatter four hits over six innings, picking up her 10th win of the year. Cheyenne Eggens would pick up a one-inning save, her fourth of the season.
GAME TWO: USF 9, FGCU 2
The offense exploded in game two as USF used a six-run fifth to earn the 9-2 victory over FGCU for the doubleheader sweep.
USF broke open the game in the bottom of the fourth, utilizing six hits and a pair of FGCU errors to plate six runs.
The Bulls loaded the bases with one out on three straight infield singles, before the two errors allowed USF to extend the inning. With two outs on the board, the Bulls sent seven more to the plate to build a sizeable 7-2 lead.
In the sixth, the Bulls would add another two runs on RBI singles from Kassie Moeller and Morgan Gross.
The scoring got started earlier in game two as each team plated a run in the first inning. The Eagles would strike with a two-out RBI single to take a 1-0 lead in the top of the inning.
The Bulls responded with a run of their own as Kristen Wyckoff scored on a Bethaney Keen sacrifice fly.
FGCU would take a 2-1 lead on a solo home run in the fourth by Lulu Newmark.

The Bulls have the weekend off and travel to Houston for the final conference series of the season, May 5-7.
