Listen to Bulls Beat
Bulls fans can get their daily USF news each morning on Bulls Beat. Darek Sharp hosts a half-hour show filled with exclusive interviews, highlights, full recaps and game previews on all USF sports teams. Bulls Beat can be heard each weekday on Bulls Unlimited, a channel devoted to USF sports 24/7. Search USF on the IHeart Radio app to download the channel. The show repeats each half hour from 7-10 every morning, with an additional airing at 12:30 p.m.

Bulls Weekly Highlights
  • USF women's basketball wraps up the regular season with a test in Hartford against No. 5 UConn (Monday, 7 p.m.) before competing in the conference tournament that's set for Friday through Monday, March 9 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
  • USF men's basketball looks for its third straight win Tuesday at home against Cincinnati (7 p.m. tip-off). The Bulls finish up the regular season with another home game against SMU (Saturday, 7 p.m.).
  • USF softball has won eight of its past nine games heading into Wednesday's home matchup against Detroit Mercy that begins at 6 p.m. The USF Tournament takes place Friday through Sunday on campus.
  • Fresh off a weekend series sweep, USF baseball heads to Gainesville for a three-game series at No. 1 Florida that begins Friday at 6:30 p.m.
  • Senior Stephanie Lambeth captured the women's pole vault title at the 2020 American Indoor Track and Field Championships last week in Birmingham, Ala.

TAMPA, MARCH 2, 2020 – Take a look ahead at the week in USF Athletics and catch up on last week's news:

Football
Important Upcoming Events: USF begins spring practice Tuesday, March 10 and the Bulls' spring game returns to Corbett Stadium on Saturday, April 18. More details on the spring game will follow.

Last Week: Former USF standout cornerback Deatrick Nichols intercepted two passes for Houston in the Roughnecks' 27-20 win over Dallas during Week 4 of the XFL season. Meanwhile, quarterback B.J. Daniels provided a spark for Seattle, throwing a touchdown pass and rushing for 84 yards (12.0 ypc) in the second half of the Dragons' 23-16 loss to the St. Louis BattleHawks. Learn more HERE. It's probable Daniels will take over as Seattle's starting QB, according to an XFL report.  

Jeff ScottNeed to Know: Head coach Jeff Scott's new USF coaching staff includes Glenn Spencer (defensive coordinator/LBs), Charlie Weis Jr. (offensive coordinator/QBs), Da'Quan Bowers (defensive line), Daniel Da Prato (special teams coordinator), Xavier Dye (wide receivers), Joey King (tight ends), Allen Mogridge (offensive line), Jules Montinar (cornerbacks), Pat White (running backs) and Wes Neighbors (safeties).

Women's Basketball (18-11, 10-5)
This Week: USF wraps up the regular season with a test against No. 5 UConn in Hartford on Monday at 7 p.m. (TV: ESPN2)… The American Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Championship is set for Friday through Monday, March 9 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The tournament bracket will be released this Monday night HERE.

Tamara HenshawLast Week: After being honored by the program on Senior Night, Tamara Henshaw posted eight points, five rebounds, two assists and two blocks in an 85-62 win over SMU at the Yuengling Center on Feb. 29. Learn more about Henshaw's productive career with the Bulls HERE… Five Bulls scored in double figures to help USF cruise to an 81-52 victory over East Carolina on Feb. 25.  

Need to Know: Tamara Henshaw ranks sixth on USF's all-time rebounds list with 877 career boards… Shae Leverett passed the 500-rebound mark in the win over SMU on Feb. 29.

Men's Basketball (13-16, 6-10)
This Week: USF eyes its third straight win during Tuesday's home game against Cincinnati that begins at 7 p.m. (TV: ESPNU)… The Bulls finish up the regular season with another home game against SMU on Saturday at 7 p.m. (TV: ESPN3). Fans can call/text 1-800-Go-Bulls or visit USFBullsTix.com to purchase tickets.

Justin BrownLast Week: Justin Brown totaled 13 points and nine rebounds, and USF closed the game on an 11-1 run en route to a 64-58 victory at Temple on March 1… Brown posted 18 points and nine rebounds to help the Bulls register a 73-68 overtime win over East Carolina on Feb. 26.

Need to Know: Justin Brown was named to The American's weekly honor roll on Monday after averaging 15.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in two wins last week… The American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship takes place March 12-15 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Learn more HERE.

Softball (10-8)
This Week: USF has won eight of its past nine games heading into Wednesday's home matchup against Detroit Mercy that begins at 6 p.m. … The USF Tournament is set for Friday through Sunday on campus. USF schedule: Friday vs. UMass, 4:30 p.m., vs. Iowa State, 6:45 p.m.; Saturday vs. Wisconsin, 2 p.m., vs. TBD, 6:45 p.m.; Sunday vs. TBD, 11:30 a.m.

Last Week: The Bulls began their 4-1 run at the USF Tournament with 2-0 and 5-4 wins over Rutgers and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 28. USF kept things rolling with 1-0 and 2-1 victories over Syracuse and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 29. The Bulls' eight-game winning streak came to an end with a 7-5 setback against Syracuse on March 1... USF's Feb. 25 doubleheader at FGCU was postponed due to expected inclement weather. A makeup date will be announced at a later time.

Corrick Pitcher of the weekNeed to Know: Georgina Corrick was named The American Pitcher of the Week on Monday after recording two complete-game shutouts and 22 strikeouts last weekend. Corrick leads the AAC with 83 strikeouts and three shutouts this season. The junior currently ranks sixth all-time at USF with 507 career strikeouts.

Baseball (5-7)
This Week: USF travels to Gainesville for a three-game series against No. 1 Florida that begins Friday at 6:30 p.m. Saturday's game starts at 4 p.m. and Sunday's series finale is set for 1 p.m.

Collin SullivanLast Week: USF completed a three-game sweep of Northwestern with a 10-5 win on March 1. The Bulls rallied to a 2-1 victory in the second game of the series on Feb. 29. Collin Sullivan recorded a career-high 14 strikeouts in a 2-1 win on Feb. 28… The Bulls were tied with the Hurricanes heading into the ninth inning of a 7-5 loss at No. 6 Miami on Feb. 26.

Need to Know: Senior Collin Sullivan was named to The American's weekly honor roll after striking out 14 batters in six innings against Northwestern on Feb. 28… Fans can watch every USF baseball/softball home game this regular season by purchasing the Double Play Pass for only $75.

Track & Field
Next Event:  USF opens outdoor season as the host of the Bulls Invitational March 20-21 on campus.

LambethLast Week: Senior Stephanie Lambeth captured the pole vault individual title and registered the second-highest indoor height in school history to highlight competition for USF at the American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in Birmingham, Ala. Read recaps of Day 1 and 2.

Women's Golf
This Week: USF heads to Gainesville, Fla., for the two-day Gators Invitational that begins Saturday at Mark Bostick Golf Course.

Last Week: Improving on its previous score each windy day, USF placed fifth at the Florida State Match-Up on March 1 in Panama City, Fla. Freshman Erika Smith collected her third top-10 finish of the season. Read the recap HERE.

Women's Tennis (4-6, 0-1)
This Week: USF begins a four-match home stand Sunday at noon against Lehigh. Admission is free at the USF Varsity Courts.

Last Week: USF posted a 4-2 win over North Texas on Feb. 27 and dropped a 4-0 decision against conference foe Memphis on Feb. 28 in Denton, Texas... The Bulls finished up their week on the road with a 4-0 loss at TCU on March 1.

Need to Know: USF's memorial service for honorary team member Elizabeth Jones has been rescheduled for Sunday, prior to the Bulls' home match against Lehigh at noon. Jones inspired the Bulls with her optimism while battling an incurable lung disease and passed away at the age of 12 on Aug. 8, 2019. Learn more about USF's "Team Warrior" HERE.

Men's Tennis (7-4, 0-1)

Last Week: USF capped off a perfect week with a 7-0 victory at Georgia Southern on Feb. 29… The Bulls cruised to a 7-0 win at Georgia State on Feb. 28.

About USF Athletics
USF Athletics sponsors 19 varsity men's and women's teams that compete in 11 different sports, 18 at the NCAA Division I level in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls' athletic program began in 1965 and is in its 54th season in 2019-20. Nearly 450 student-athletes train and compete in the athletic district located on the east end of the campus in Tampa, Fla. The Bulls have claimed 19 American Athletic Conference team titles since joining the conference in 2013, and own 120 conference titles overall. Eleven USF programs reached national postseason competition in the 2018-19 season and six were ranked in the Top 25 nationally. The Bulls posted a combined annual grade-point average over 3.0 for the fourth straight year in 2018-19 and have posted a program record 10 straight semesters with a combined GPA over 3.0. USF has had 309 student-athletes earn their degree since 2016-17.
