Softball Continues Home Stand with Seven Straight Games

South Florida welcomes UPenn for Tuesday double header

TAMPA, March 1, 2022 – The University of South Florida softball team looks to continue its win streak in the Bulls Invitational starting tomorrow with the Kansas Jayhawks at 6 p.m.
 
USF will also welcome Rhode Island, USC-Upstate, NIU, and Army before hosting University of Pennsylvania for a double-header on Tuesday.
 
LAST WEEK
This past weekend, Marissa Trivelpiece and Hallie Bryant got in on the home run action. In the bottom of the sixth inning and the bases loaded, Trivelpiece hit her first career grand slam and the first for the Bulls since 2019. Macy Cook hit the last one in South Florida's 4-0 win over Tulsa.
 
Later in the day, Bryant showed off her speed on the bases when she cleared them by hitting an inside the park home run. Her homer also solidified the Bulls 7-3 win.

Kansas (10-5)

Notable Information:
  • Six Jayhawk batters have 10+ hits on the season. Lyric Moore leads with 15 hits, three of those are home runs.
  • In 27.2 innings pitched, Kasey Hamilton has a 3.54 ERA, retired 28 batters, and has three wins.
 
Rhode Island (1-4)

Notable Information:
  • Cassie Swenson leads the team with a .417 batting average. Rachel Zingerman has the only home run on the season.
  • Liz Lynchard and Katie Zaun have a combined 23 strikeouts this season. Lynchard leads with 12.
 
USC-Upstate (13-0)*
Date: Saturday, March 4 | 7 p.m.

Series vs. USC-Upstate: USF leads, 1-0
Notable Information:
  • Tiffany Domingue has five home runs already this season. She also leads the team in RBI with 14.
  • Alyssa Kelly has been the Spartans ace this season. She has a 0.62 ERA in 45.1 innings and 36 strikeouts.

NIU (3-7)
Date: Sunday, March 5 | 2 p.m.

Notable Information:
  • Ally Rodriguez leads the team with a .357 batting average. She has 10 hits on 28 at bats and one RBI.
  • Danielle Stewart has earned five starts this season. So far she has a 3.23 ERA in 26.0 innings and 20 strikeouts.
 
Army (3-8)
Date: Monday, March 6 | 6 p.m.

Notable Information:
  • Three players have hot at least one home run with Taylor Brown leading with two. Kaci Donaldson and Maddie Wilkes have one.
  • Alicyn Grete has started in all six games she has appeared in. In her 22.2 innings pitched, she has retired 17 batters.

  • Dana Anderson leads the Quakers with a .455 batting average . She has five hits, one run and one home run.
  • Bella Fiorentino has pitched in 13 innings. She has struck out three and walked five.
