TAMPA (March 13, 2023) – The University of South Florida Bulls return to Tampa for a five-game homestand beginning with a midweek series against Dartmouth. South Florida is in the midst of playing eight games in nine days after a three-game series at Long Beach State last weekend. USF will play eight of its next nine games at home and all of them in the Sunshine State.
Nolan Hudi will make Tuesday's start on the mound for the Bulls after being named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday. In his previous start last Tuesday versus Pitt, Hudi struck out a career-high 10 batters without issuing a walk in a 2-1 victory.
USF is 2-2 over its last four games after defeating Pittsburgh and claiming the series finale at Long Beach State, 6-2.
D1Baseball.com currently lists South Florida's Strength of Schedule at No. 15 in the NCAA. Following their current homestand, the Bulls are slated for their seventh ballgame of the year against a Top 25-ranked opponent in No. 20 Florida Gulf Coast next Tuesday in Fort Myers.
Bobby Boser and John Montes enter the midweek series sharing the team lead in batting average (.340). Boser, Daniel Cantu and Jackson Mayo share the team lead in home runs (3).
Montes is batting .395 (15-for-38) with four doubles, two homers and seven RBI over his last 10 games. True freshman Eric Snow is hitting .355 (11-for-31) with three doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI over his last 10 games. Drew Brutcher enters Tuesday with a 12-game streak of reaching base safely.
