South Florida Set For WBCA State Farm Showcase Showdown With No. 25/22 Louisville

Tampa, Fla. – Nov. 23, 2024 – South Florida women's basketball (4-2)  heads to Orlando, Fla. to face No. 25/22 Louisville (2-2) in the inaugural 2024 WBCA State Farm Showcase at the ESPN Wide World of Sports on Sunday, Nov. 24. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. and the game will stream live on Peacock.
 
A WIN WOULD MEAN
The ranked victory on Sunday would be the 22nd-ranked win in program history and Head Coach Jose Fernandez's 20th-ranked win. The win would be the first-ranked victory since December 2022, when the Bulls topped No. 17/19 Arkansas, 66-65.
 
THE SOUTH FLORIDA-LOUISVILLE SERIES
Louisville holds a 29-4 advantage against South Florida in the all-time series. The pairing between the Cardinals and Bulls spans back to the 1991-92 season. In the last clash, Louisville beat South Florida, 66-52 (Jan. 22, 2017).
 
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida beat Jacksonville, 75-57, on Wednesday night in the Yuengling Center. Sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh scored 19 of her season-best 24 points in the fourth quarter and grabbed a career-best 10 boards on the glass, noting her first career double-double. Graduate guard Sammie Puisis (19-points) was the second performer to finish the night in double-figures, tonight marked the fifth time this season she has finished with double-figure points. Junior forward Carla Brito matched a career-best 11 rebounds. Graduate guard Mama Dembele (7 assists) and junior guard Janette Aarnio (career-best six assists) combined for 13 total assists. Dembele has recorded 3+ assists in 35 straight games, the second-longest active streak in DI, behind Drake's Katie Dinnebier (49 games).
 
BEST OF THE BULLS
The Bulls are led by Puisis (15.2 ppg.), who is ranked 4th in the nation with 21 total 3-pointers made and 14th in 3FG Made Per Game (3.5 3FGM). Brito holds a team-best 7.0 rebound average. Dembele is USF's top assister with 5.7 apg. (34 total assists ranked 5th nationally).
