USF is looking for its second straight win, while the matchup is the season opener for the visiting Mountaineers.
 
THE SOUTH FLORIDA-MOUNT ST. MARY'S SERIES
South Florida holds a 10-2 advantage in the series with Bethune-Cookman and the pairings between the Bulls and Wildcats span back to the 1977-78 season. In the last clash, USF topped BCU, 88-39 (Nov. 15, 2018).

Already the owner of the all-time conference wins record in The American, South Florida Head Coach Jose Fernandez is tied with UConn's Geno Auriemma with 252 All-Time wins as a member of the American Athletic Conference. A win would make Coach Fernandez the All-Time Win's leader as a member of the AAC.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Senior forward L'or Mputu led all scorers with a career-best 16-point outing as South Florida collected an 87-44 season-opening victory against Bethune-Cookman on Monday night in the Yuengling Center. Redshirt senior guard Romi Levy (14 points, eight rebounds), graduate guard Sammie Puisis (13 points), and freshman guard Raina Tomasicka (11 points) joined Mputu and rounded out the USF performers in double figures. Graduate guard Mama Dembele scored eight points and eight assists, just two shy of a double-double performance in her debut for the Bulls. Junior forward Carla Brito matched a career-best four steals.

Head Coach Jose Fernandez enters his 25th season at the helm of the South Florida Women's Basketball Program. Fernandez is one of 6 active head coaches who have been a head coach at a single DI institution for 25 seasons or longer. On Thursday, November 14, when South Florida hosts Vanderbilt, the anniversary season will be celebrated. That date marks the exact 25-year anniversary of Fernandez first stepping into his role as head coach at South Florida.
