USF Track & Field Posts Strong Results Across Two Meets

Bulls set new program record and podium finishes across two days.

TAMPA, Fla, Jan. 31, 2026 – The Bulls continued their 2026 indoor season with strong performances at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational and the Legends of Alachua County Invitational.

South Florida recorded multiple podium finishes and personal records, including a new program record that beat the time set at the previous meet, across two days of competition.

PNC LENNY LYLES INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

Relays:
The men's 4x400-meter relay of Devontie Archer, Shevioe Reid, Kelsey Singleton, and Nathan Metelus finished second and set a new program record with a time of 3:04.65. A second Bulls men's 4x400-meter relay group of Davien Worrels, Shomari Pettigrew, Felix Levasseur and Alexavier Monfries followed with a fourth-place finish.
 
On the women's side, the 4x400-meter relay of Sasha Salwonchuk, Malaysia Johnson, Mercy Angaamchaab and Sa'Nijah Houston placed third with a time of 3:42.07.
 
Sprints/Hurdles:
In the men's 60-meter finals, Isaac Chandra placed fifth with a time of 6.79 seconds. On the women's side, Doris Quainoo finished fourth in the 60-meter finals, clocking 7.49 seconds.

In the men's 400-meter A Division, Kelsey Singleton claimed second place with a time of 47.12 seconds. Devontie Archer followed in sixth (47.52), and Alexavier Monfries placed seventh at 47.63.

THE LEGENDS OF ALACHUA COUNTY INVITATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS:

1 Mile:
Delaney Stephens placed third in the women's one mile (5:00.05), while Karim Belmahdi finished third in the men's one mile with a time of 4:10.43.

Pole Vault:
Ella Dolce and Madeline Dutz tied for second place in the women's pole vault, both clearing 3.70 meters.

Nikodem Pochopien matched his personal best at 5.15 meters, earning a third-place finish in the men's pole vault. Andreas Kreiss followed with a fourth-place finish after also clearing 5.15 meters. Payton Pitts added a sixth-place result, clearing 5.00 meters.

ABOUT USF TRACK AND FIELD
The USF men's track and field team captured back-to-back American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships in 2024 and 2025 and also claimed the 2024 AAC Outdoor Championship. This past season, 10 Bulls athletes earned All-America honors, including Shevioe ReidShaniya BenjaminGabriel MorontaNathan MetelusTerren PetersonAmenda Saint LouisAbdul-Rasheed SaminuGoodness IrediaZahria Allers-Liburd, and Tre'Sean Bouis. Additionally, Romaine Beckford represented USF by winning the 2023 NCAA indoor and outdoor national titles in the men's high jump.

The Bulls' achievements extended to individual accolades, with Saminu Abdul-Rasheed earning the 2025 Indoor Most Valuable Performer award and Nikodem Pochopien being named Freshman of the Year. The USF coaching staff also received high honors, earning the AAC Indoor Staff of the Year award in both 2024 and 2025. USF boasts a remarkable track record, with 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American honoree in 10 of the past 12 years. In 2021, eight athletes combined for 11 All-America distinctions. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program milestone by earning three All-America honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Since 2013, USF has produced two NCAA runner-up finishes: O'Neal in the triple jump (2016) and Courtney Anderson in the high jump (2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins, who took over in July 2019, has played a key role in the program's success, guiding USF to seven program records and 40 top-10 all-time program marks during the 2021 outdoor season. USF has also hosted major track and field events at its USF Track & Field Stadium, including the 2018 NCAA East Preliminary and the AAC Outdoor Championships in 2021 and 2023.
