USF Track and Field Heads to Mt. SAC Relays

Bulls set to compete against top national competition in Walnut, California

WALNUT, Calif., April 16, 2026 - The University of South Florida track and field program heads west to compete at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California, one of the premier meets in collegiate track and field. The Bulls will compete Friday and Saturday as part of the Collegiate Division competition.

The Mt. SAC Relays bring together a select group of invited programs, with entry based on performance standards and team rankings. The meet consistently features some of the top competition in the nation, providing a high-level opportunity for athletes to compete against elite fields across multiple event groups.

Competition will take place across two days, with collegiate events beginning Friday and continuing through Saturday. The meet also includes elite and distance carnival sections, creating a competitive environment that spans all levels of the sport.

Rankings Entering the Mt. Sac Relays:

Nathan Metelus earned American Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in his career and continues to establish himself as a key piece of USF's sprint group. He won the 400 meters at the South Florida Invitational with a personal-best time of 45.80, ranking third in the American, 10th in the East Region and 19th in the NCAA.

Kelsey Singleton has been one of the top performers in the 400 meters this season. His 45.43 leads the American and ranks 5th in the East Region and 9th nationally, positioning him among the top competitors in the event.

In the middle distance, Karim Belmahdi set a personal-best time of 1:48.05 at the South Florida Invitational. The mark ranks first in the American and 24th in the East Region.

Jaleel Croal continues to make an impact in the short sprints. His 10.14 in the 100 meters ranks second in the American and sits among the top times in the NCAA this season.

Nikodem Pochopien and Payton Pitts lead the American and rank 20th in the East Region in the pole vault, jumping 5.30m at the Florida Relays.

On the women's side, Mercy Angaamchaab leads the 800 meters in the American with a time of 2:09.04 at the Florida Relays. 

Esteisy Salas Lozano ranks third in the American and 34th in the East Region in the shot put with a throw of 15.63m at the Florida Relays. Annalee Harbison ranks fourth in the American and 47th in the East Region with a personal-best hammer throw of 56.92m at the Florida Relays.

Lilah Versluis ranks fourth in the American and 31st in the East Region with a personal-best high jump of 1.75m. Zayin Roe ranks second in the American and 47th in the East Region with a season-best triple jump of 12.54m at the Florida Relays.

In the sprints, Lynette Scutari ranks sixth in the American in the 100 meters (11.59) and continues to contribute to USF's balance across event groups.

Erik Jenkins is in his seventh season as the USF head coach. The South Florida men's track and field team has won five straight American Conference championships. The Bulls' 4x400m relay squad— Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey and Gabriel Moronta — claimed a national title with a program-record time of 3:00.42 at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships, earning a top-15 finish as a team. This past season, nine Bulls athletes earned All-America honors, including Kobe Babin, Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey, Gabriel Moronta, Shomari Pettigrew, Jaleel Croal, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, and Vincent Ugwoke.
