Who is a Prospect?

A prospective student-athlete is a student who:
  • Has started classes for the ninth grade
    • 7th grade in men’s and women’s basketball for purposes of camp/clinics
  • Has not started classes for the ninth grade but receives any financial assistance or other benefits from anyone who is associated with USF that is not provided to prospective students generally.
  • Prep school, junior college, and four-year college student-athletes from other institutions are to be considered prospective student-athletes when USF has received “permission to contact.”
"Prospect” and/or "prospective student-athlete" also refers to Individuals parents, legal guardians, relatives and friends.

A prospective student-athlete becomes an USF student-athlete once her or she:

  • Enrolls in and begins attending USF classes during the summer before initial fall enrollment;
     
  • Participates in practice or competition for USF that occurs before the beginning of any academic term; or
     
  • Enrolls full-time at USF and begins attending fall or spring classes at USF.
     
  • Attends regular student orientation within 14 days of the first day of the normal academic term.
