Bulls Pick up First Conference Victory Against Cincinnati, 3-2, in OT

Cincinnati, OHIO (October 16, 2005) ? The USF women's soccer team (6-6-3, 1-5-3 BIG EAST) picked up their first BIG EAST Conference victory Sunday afternoon against the Cincinnati Bearcats (3-10-2, 1-7-1 BIG EAST), 3-2, in OT at Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

USF jumped out to an early 1-0 lead. In the 21st minute of the match, the Bulls got on the board with a give-and-go between Megan Morton (2g, 4pts) and Ebony Robinson (1g, 2a, 4pts) which lead to Morton's first goal of the season.

USF's lead would not stand for long as the Bearcats Becky Imhoff crossed the ball to the left side of the box where an open Heather Haney fired a shot past USF goalkeeper Casey Garrett, to knot the match up at 1-1.

Two minutes later, UC took the lead when Jen Leiter scored on Garrett in the far post off a free ball outside the box.
Despite a strong defensive effort bye the Bearcats, their lead would not last. In the 85th minute Mindy Mulvihill sent a long pass down the left side to Katie Reed (2g, 4a, 8pts) who beat UC's Sherry Slye to tie the match at 2-2 and send the game into overtime.

In the 99th minute , Morton sealed the victor from the bulls when she headed a cross from Robinson near the post. UC's goalkeeper Slye made a diving stop but was unable to stop the ball from the goal line, giving the Bulls their first BIG EAST Conference victory.

Goalie Garrett finished the match with 11 saves. On the season she has allowed 19 goals, while saving 80 shots.
The Bulls will return home for the first time in four matches when they take on St. John's on Fri. October 21. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
