Seabrook Shines In National Spotlight; Leads USF to 3-1 Win Over Stetson

TAMPA, Fla. (October 12, 2006) ? A pair of goals by sophomore Jordan Seabrook guided the University of South Florida men's soccer team (7-4-3) to a 3-1 win over the Stetson Hatters (3-9-2) in front a record-setting crowd as well as a national audience on Thursday, Oct. 12 at the USF Soccer Stadium. The match, which was broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel, was the NSCAA Men's College Game of the Week and was the team's first-ever national television contest at home.

In front of the largest crowd ever (2,106) to view a USF men's soccer match at the USF Soccer Stadium, Seabrook notched his first multiple-goal game of the season, scoring two goals in the first half. The first was a 22nd-minute strike in which the Indianapolis, Ind., native one-timed a low cross by Kris Raad from six-yards out. The goal was the fifth of the season for Seabrook. Raad was credited with his fourth assist of the season. Junior Rodrigo Hidalgo was also credited with his second assist of the year on the goal.

Following a game-tying goal by Stetson's Set Carpintero in the 28th minute, Seabrook countered with his second goal of the night converting a chance in the 29th minute. Once again, Seabrook's shot was set up by Raad who crossed the ball low in front of the Hatter's goal mouth. The goal was Seabrook's sixth of the season, while the assist was Raad's fifth of 2006.

The Bulls added an insurance goal with Kevon Neaves' first goal of the season. On an indirect free kick, Neaves sent a one-timed shot from 30-yards out into the far post of the Stetson goal to make the score 3-1. Jason Devenish, who fed Neaves the ball on the free kick, was credited with his first assist of the season.  The goal, a hard driven shot from well outside the Hatters' area, put the game out of reach as the Bulls won their second-straight home match.

Goalkeeper Dane Brenner made seven saves en route to his seventh victory of the 2006 season. The High Point, N.C., native is unbeaten in his last three starts (2-0-1).

The win also marked the 22nd time USF defeated Stetson in the 27th meeting all-time. It also improved head coach George Kiefer to 4-0-1 versus the Hatters all-time.

USF will return to BIG EAST conference play, hosting the Syracuse Orange on Sunday, Oct. 15. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
