TAMPA, Fla. ? Eight University of South Florida home baseball games and three Bulls softball games will be broadcast on Catch 47, the official cable partner of USF athletics, this season.
Catch 47 will air all eight baseball games ? seven of which are BIG EAST Conference matchups ? live, with Bay News 9's Joe Girvan handling play-by-play duties. USF's Jim Louk will call the softball games.
"There are not many teams in the country that are even seen on tv, so to have eight is a great thing for the program," said head coach Lelo Prado. "Hopefully we'll continue to win, and the more we win, the more we will be on tv. It's a great opportunity and we are fortunate to have eight games on tv."
Catch 47 has also agreed to televise three softball games, including the highly-anticipated matchup with the USA National Team during the USF Under Armour Series at the EC Moore Complex in Clearwater, Fla.
"The coverage and spotlight on USF softball continues to grow every season," said head coach Ken Eriksen. "Catch47 televising the game against the USA National Team will only increase the atmosphere and excitement around the USF Under Armour Series in Clearwater. Our budding rivalry with Notre Dame promises to be entertaining and a something any softball fan will want to watch."
The first televised baseball game will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, when the Bulls host Big 12 Conference power Oklahoma State.
Three BIG EAST games will be broadcast in March, including the Seton Hall game on Friday the 14th, and two games against Georgetown, on March 28 and 29. All three games start at 7 p.m.
Fans can watch two 7 o'clock Friday night games in April as the Bulls take on preseason-ranked Louisville on the 11th and Villanova on the 25th.
The tv schedule wraps up with the final homestand of the season, as the Thursday, May 15 and Friday, May 16 games with Notre Dame will both be aired at 7 p.m.
The USA vs. USF softball game will air live on March 8 at 6:30 p.m. Eastern. Catch47 will also air the Bulls doubleheader with Notre Dame on April 20. The BIG EAST conference twin bill is schedule to begin at Noon.
