? Brian Landman of the St. Petersburg Times takes a look at football's up and coming series with Florida State. He writes,"Florida State coach Bobby Bowden didn't sound particularly optimistic, or even particularly enthusiastic, about scheduling ever-improving USF as recently as last summer.

"You usually try to find somebody that you've got a chance to win (against) instead of getting your nose bloodied," he said in July.

Although still a relatively upstart football program, USF had proved it could do the latter. Ask Auburn."

? Kevin Smetana of the Times has a nice feature on former Riverview High School and former USF standout Tyrone McKenzie as he prepares for the NFL draft. Smetana writes,"Tyrone Mc?Kenzie remembers the exact moment he realized he had the potential to make it big in football.

? Kerry Klecic's, Sports Editor of the Oracle, features a nice piece on former USF soccer standout Jordan Seabrook, who was recently drafted by the MLS's Colorado Rapids. Here are the first couple paragraphs,"Jordan Seabrook never doubted his ability, his talent or his success, but he sometimes questioned the direction in which he wanted to take his life.

He knows exactly where he's going now, though.

Verdejo suffered a concussion in the first half at West Virginia, but the severity of Verdejo's injury was unknown until after the game, USF coach Stan Heath said. Verdejo never asked to leave the game and appeared fine, but passed out in the shower."
