TAMPA, FEB. 14, 2014 – Veronica Gajownik jumpstarted a four-run fifth inning that made the difference in the Bulls' 8-6 USF Tournament win over Wright State before a crowd of 553 at USF Softball Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Gajownik (Winter Park, Fla.) went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and her two-run single tied things up for USF in the decisive frame. Senior Ashli Goff drove in the go-ahead run with a groundout and junior D'Anna Devine's infield single capped off the scoring for the rallying Bulls (2-2). Goff finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs in the first of two games for USF on Friday.

Devine (Morrisville, Pa.) started the tournament with a stellar performance from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs. Catcher Lee Ann Spivey (Palm Coast, Fla.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and the sophomore's two-run homer started off the scoring in the first inning.

Sara Nevins (1-2) earned her first win of the season after striking out five and giving up one hit in three innings of shutout relief. Nevins (Pinellas Park, Fla.) entered the game after Wright State (0-2) put together a six-run third inning and grabbed a 6-3 lead.

The Bulls will finish up the first day of the USF Tournament with a test against Binghamton 4:25 p.m. Friday back at USF Softball Stadium.
