TAMPA, NOV. 9, 2015 – For the eighth consecutive year, the USF men's and women's cross country team volunteered at Richard's Run for Life.
Over 2,000 participants took to the streets of Ybor City on Saturday in the annual 5K road race to support cancer research and the entire USF cross country team helped by running the registration table, handing out water and working the finish line.
“We enjoy coming out here as a team and supporting such a good cause,” said USF head coach Dena Reif. “It's great to give back to the community.”
Richard's Run for Life was created by Columbia Restaurant President Richard Gonzmart as a way to combine his love for running with his long-time desire to find a cure for cancer.
One hundred percent of every dollar donated and raised on Saturday went to benefit the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Program for sarcoma research and the Advanced Prostate Cancer Collaboration (APCC) at Moffitt.

Dena Reif is in her fourth season as the head coach of USF cross country. The history of USF's women's program consists of five conference and two region championships as well as five NCAA qualifying teams. The USF men's program has produced seven conference championships and three NCAA qualifying teams.
