USF Track and Field Travels to Gainesville for Pepsi Florida Relays

Tampa, Fla., March 30, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field team travels to Gainesville, Fla., with hopes to continue its success in the outdoor season.
Alliya Boothe begins competition for the Bulls on Friday at 11:00 a.m., participating in the hammer toss. Boothe moved up to sixth position in the Top 10 All-Time lists in her last competition at the USF Bulls Invitational.
Nia Robinson competes in the women's long jump invite at 4:00 p.m., while Jadaja Baxter, and Annia Ashley compete in the college long jump event. Baxter and Ashley also recently moved to eighth and ninth position, respectively, in the Top 10 list after the first home meet of the season.
Continuing the day's field events, Ella Dolce and Riley Hunt participate in the women's pole vault competition. NCAA Champion Romaine Beckford competes in the men's high jump at 5:30 p.m, along with Kendell Mosley. David Ajama wraps up Friday's field events in the men's long jump at 6:00 p.m.
Arden La-Rose, Carolyn Brown, Victoria Valdez and Cora Kolodge kick off the running events on Friday with the women's 4x800m race. Shortly after, the women's and men's 4x100 prelims will take place.
Later in the day, Shaniya Benjamin competes in the women's 200m race, along with Zayquan Lincoln, Shevioe Reid, and Elijah Wright in the men's competition. Sanique Walker and Chakiya Plummer wrap up the first day of the meet in the 400-meter hurdles race.
On Saturday, Robinson, and Kendall McDaniel begins USF's participation in the women's high jump at 12 p.m., along with Johann Jeremiah in the men's shot put.
Kobe Babin, Stone Baker, and Noah Bitter jump for USF in the men's pole vault at 1 p.m., followed by Loren Johnson and Ajama in the triple jump.
Shaneylix Davila, Madeline Abega and Plummer kick off the women's 100m hurdles prelims, while Michael Bourne III compete in the men's competition. Finals will take place later in the day, along with the men's and women's 4x100m relay finals.
Brown, La-Rose and Valdez continue their participation at the meet at 1:15 p.m., running the 800-meters, where La-Rose currently sits at sixth on the programs all-time performance list.
In the 400-meter race, Je'Nyia Burton, Kayla Hugg, and Doneisha Anderson represent the Green and Gold in the women's event while Wright, Daunte O'Banion, and Reid represent the men's team.
Competition at the Pepsi Florida Relays completes with the women's and men's 100-meter dash, featuring Hannah Connell, Lincoln and Danelson Mahautiere, and with Kolodge competing in the 3K race at 4:30 p.m.
About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-American selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
