? Check out Greg Auman's Blog entry as he takes a look at the tranformation of the USF Athletic Facility and the new sod put on the USF practice fields. He writes,"
It's a circus at USF, but a well-timed one for the Bulls' football recruiting -- it's one thing to sell a recruit on the chance to play in an NFL stadium, another to show him he'll be playing on the same field as the biggest game in all of football. We'll get more up on USF's final recruiting push later in the day ..."

Conan O'Brien with the Gramaticas

TAMPA -- The Super Bowl connections between USF and the NFL continue to make news this week.

The latest is the Gramatica brothers - Martin, Santiago and Bill - taping a segment with NBC late-night host Conan O'Brien at Jefferson high school today. The segment was initially scheduled to be taped at USF, but the Steelers and NBC weren't able to free up enough time on the practice fields.

The GoUSFBulls.com camera crews were out at Jefferson high school and were able to capture the priceless image (to the right) of O'Brien and the Gramaticas throwing up the Bulls hand sign.

Bill Gramatica kicked for USF from 1998-2000 and Santiago was on the team from 2001-04.  Martin was an All-American at Kansas State.

Conan O'Brien's show airs at 12:35 p.m. Eastern on NBC.

? Times Correspondent Steve Bittenbender recaps the Bulls loss at Louisville. He writes,"For the first 20 minutes, USF played streaking Louisville as strong as anyone has for the month of January.

The Bulls shot better than 50 percent against one of the country's best defenses and ended the first half trailing by just a point against the Big East co-leaders and the seventh-ranked team in the nation. But a 22-3 run by the Cardinals (16-3, 7-0) to start the second half quelled any thought of an upset Wednesday night as USF fell 80-54."

? The Oracle's Kelli Polson previews men's tennis's trip to Texas where they will face No. 33 TCU TCU on saturday and the winner of No. 2 Texas and UC- Santa Barbara. She writes,"Two weeks after toppling No. 11 Florida State, the South Florida men's tennis team has the chance to face two ranked teams this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Indoor Championships"

? Kerry Klecic of the Oracle recaps last night's loss to Lousiville. Klecic writes,"It's hard to believe it was a one-point game at halftime.

However, South Florida led throughout most of the first half against Louisville for the second time this season, and the No. 7 Cardinals used a second-half surge to pull away to an 80-54 victory Wednesday night at Freedom Hall."

? Klecic preview's the women's saturday showdown at Rutgers. He writes,"USF travels to Rutgers on Saturday for a matchup in which both teams will look to return to the success they had earlier this season.

? Nice article from Brett McMurphy on sophomore guard Dominique Jones and his chances of breaking Charlie Bradley's USF All-time scoring record. Here are the first couple lines," Sitting courtside inside the Sun Dome at a recent University of South Florida home game, Charlie Bradley admitted he's a goner.

His days are numbered. Bradley's run on top is nearing an end. Bradley owns USF's single-game scoring record of 42 points and the career record of 2,319 points - for now.

"Look at how easy the game comes to him," Bradley said, watching sophomore guard Dominique Jones during warm-ups. "He has the total package. It's time for it the records to be broken. Why not Dominique?"

? McMurphy takes a look at the daunting task that is playing in the BIG EAST. The Bulls will face No. 7/7 Louisville to night at Freedom Hall. McMurphy writes,"Tonight's game at No. 7 Louisville will be the 19th time the Bulls have played a ranked Big East opponent. That's 19 of their first 57 games in the Big East that have been against Top 25 teams. Basically, every third league game is against a ranked opponent.

This year, that percentage is even greater, with eight teams ranked in the Top 25 for most of the season. In this week's poll, however, there are only seven AP Top 25 teams - No. 2 Connecticut, No. 3 Pitt, No. 7 Louisville, No. 8 Marquette, No. 15 Syracuse, No. 21 Villanova and No. 25 Georgetown."

? Michael Grant of the Louisville Courier-Journal previews the tonights match-up with the Cardinals. He writes,"While it might look like a sure thing for their eighth straight victory, coach Rick Pitino said today that his squad doesn't share that mentality.

As impressive as recent triumphs over the ranked likes of Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame and Villanova were, there were also clunkers against the then-unranked likes of Western Kentucky, Minnesota and UNLV."

Glaser said student athletes will use a temporary locker room inside the facility."
