The Player's Take on Leavitt's 40-Yard Dash
BullsVision grabbed a handful of players - Mike Ford, Ben Busbee, Andrew Ketchel, Nate Allen, Dontavia Bogan, Carlton Mitchell - and asked them for their thougths on Coach Leavitt's 40-yard dash time of 5.72.

We'll let the video tell the rest of the story:

We also tracked down head coach Jim Leavitt and offensive coordinator Mike Canales to talk about their feeling on the spring game now that they had watched film. Both continued to be pleased after watching film.

Leavitt said that it has been a positive spring all around and he was proud of his players and their effort in practice today. This April is the first time in program history that USF has practiced after completing the Spring Game.

A New Co-Offensive Coordinator?

Mike CanalesSpring Game "Call a Play" winner Garrett Baskind got to take the controls of the USF offense for a couple plays on Saturday. Among the plays that he drew up with offensive coordinator Mike Canales was the wide receiver pass in the second half.

WR Theo Wilson had an open receiver but was a second late and the ball was intercepted by linebacker Chris Robinson. So maybe Baskind won't be joining the staff but he had a great time on the sideline with the White Team during the entire game.

Baskind's play calling idea was also used in a different formation on the two-point play to win the game.  Turns out the play that Baskind drew up was already in the USF playbook, so we won't blame him for the near miss on the pass from Evan Landi to Theo Wilson.

BullsVision is working on a video feature on Baskind and we'll have more later this week...

Perfect For the Spring
One of the comments that stood out from Canales post-Spring Game press conference was a nuggest of information about Matt Grothe.

Canales said that Grothe has not thrown an interception in team work the entire spring. That's 13 practices, two formal scrimmages and a ton of teamwork without an interception.

"That's a first in my three years here, he has been very good with the football and I think the whole offense is aware of it," said Canales. "We all learning and the young kids are really learning [from him]."

Twitter Polls
Nearly 6,000 people were in attendance, the weather was beautiful and the game came down to a two-point conversion with no time left on the clock.

What else could you ask for?

We thought it was the best Spring Game in USF history, did you?

If the Spring Game was any indication, the future of the USF quarterback position is safe in the hands of either Evan Landi or BJ Daniels. Both were brilliant at times during Saturday's game. We want to know which one has you the most excited. Voted below:

  Jamar Taylor

Taylor's Back
USF junior running back Jamar Taylor, who has been out all spring recovering from a shoulder injury, was back on the practice field Tuesday. Taylor was fifth on the team with 300 rushing yards and three touchdowns last season. He is among four players - Mike Ford, Mo Plancher and Richard Kelly - that are favorites to carry the rushing load this season.
