
USF Travels to Boston for Pair of Weekend Meets

Tampa, Fla., Feb. 3, 2022 – The University of South Florida track and field team continues its indoor season with a slate of two meets this weekend. The team will compete on Friday at the Crimson Invitational hosted by Harvard followed by the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational on Saturday.
"The city of Boston will provide an outstanding opportunity for us to compete in two very different venues," head coach Erik Jenkins said. "We will maximize the benefits that both Harvard and Boston U. present."
Crimson Invitational
Johann Jeremiah (St. George's, Grenada) kicks off USF's participation in the invitational in the men's shot-put beginning at 2 p.m. followed by Alliya Boothe (Bloomfield, Conn.) and Eron Carter (Palatka, Fla.) in the women's and men's weight throw, respectively, to wrap up the throwing events. Carter currently ranks in the top-100 nationally for the weight throw this year with a 19.61-meter mark set in Louisville.
In jumping competitions, Romaine Beckford (Portland, Jamaica) and Kendell Mosley (Niceville, Fla.), alongside David Ajama (Lowell, Mass.), start things off for USF in the men's high jump at 2 p.m. Beckford placed first and Mosley placed third in the event in the Bulls' most recent competition at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational, while Beckford's mark of 2.16 meters at the Commodore Invitational ranks No. 21 in the country. Stone Baker (New Port Richey, Fla.) and Kobe Babin (Niceville, Fla.) will represent South Florida in the men's pole vault, with both looking to move further up the program's top-ten list.
Shaniya Benjamin (Tampa, Fla.) will lead USF's delegation in the long jump at 5 p.m. after having placed first in the event in Louisville with a 6.18 meter jump, a mark which currently ranks as the best jump in the AAC and 22nd best jump in the country this year.
In track events, Shaneylix Davila (Kissimmee, Fla.) will look to keep up her winning ways in the 60-meter hurdles, having won the event in Louisville last weekend. Hannah Connell (Bridgetown, Barbados) and Chakiya Plummer (Hoover, Ala.) will also represent the Bulls in the event. Michael Bourne III (Midlothian, Va.), meanwhile, leads the Bulls in the men's 60 hurdles.
At 4:15 p.m., Connell and Jadaja Baxter (Sandy Springs, Ga.) run in the women's 60 meters and Danelson Mahautiere (Roseau, Dominica) in the men's 60 meters with their sights set on moving up the program's all-time list. Joshua St. Clair (Trinidad and Tobago), Justin Bridgewater (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Dalton Morley (Tampa, Fla.) wrap up the day for South Florida at 6 p.m. in the men's 400 meters.
Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational
Following Friday's competition at Harvard, many of South Florida's student-athletes compete again on Saturday at Boston University.
Field events at the invitational start at 11 a.m. Mosely, Beckford and Ajama again represent USF in the high jump, followed by Annia Ashley (Kingston, Jamaica) and Kendall McDaniel (Loganville, Ga.) in the women's event immediately after. Baker, Babin and Audrey Wuerffel (Jacksonville, Fla.) lead the Bulls in pole vault, while Carter, Jeremiah and Boothe rep the green and gold in throwing events.
Davila, Connell and Plummer, as well as Bourne and Victor Steiner (La Libertao, El Salvador), again represent the Bulls in the women's and men's 60 hurdles, respectively, followed by Connell in the women's 60-meter and Mahautiere and Tyler Dunigan (Sarasota, Fla.) in the men's event.
Stefone Moore-Green (Sicklerville, N.J.) enters the competition in the men's 400 meters at 12:10 p.m., leading USF's contingent in the event. He currently sits at seventh on USF's all-time list with a 48.23 that he ran at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational.
Zahria Allers-Liburd (Miami, Fla.), who currently ranks ninth on USF's all-time list, leads the Bulls in the 200 meters at 1:10 p.m., while South Florida's relay teams will compete starting at 2:30 p.m.
Jasmine Knowles (Nassau, Bahamas) and Arden La-Rose (Toronto, Canada), as well as Morley and Bridgewater, wrap up the day for USF in the 800 meters starting at 3:10 p.m. Knowles mark of 2:11.36 in the event earlier this season currently ranks fourth on the Bulls' career list.

The USF track and field team has earned 53 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
