Tampa, Fla., May 11, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field team will host the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the USF T&F Stadium starting on Friday.

Friday
Alliya Boothe and Ameiya Richardson kick off the meet for the Bulls, competing in the women's hammer throw at 11 a.m. on Friday. At 3 p.m., Amber Brown competes in the women's javelin throw, followed by Johann Jeremiah, who starts the meet for the men's team in the javelin as well.
 
Arden La-Rose starts the track events in the women's 1,500 meters at 6:30 p.m., followed by Jesse Benavides and Tyler Wadsworth in the men's competition.
 
In the 200-meter dash, a seven-runner USF contingent competes, with Shaniya Benjamin, Je'Nyia Burton, Jadaja Baxter and Terren Peterson competing for the women's team and Shevioe Reid, Zayquan Lincoln and Jaleel Croal in the men's event.
 
At 7:30 p.m., Sanique Walker, Chakiya Plummer and Madeline Abega all run in the 400-meter hurdles trials. Michael Bourne III follows in the men's event. 
 
Chloe Byrd, Kelly Lynch, Sebastian Edwards, and Tyler Engleman close the day in the 10,000-meter final at 7:55 p.m.
 
Saturday
Competition begins on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the women's long jump. Nia Robinson, Shaniya Benjamin, Jadaja Baxter, Annia Ashley, Kendall McDaniel, and Loren Johnson all jump in the women's event. Victor Steiner follows in the men's event at 5 p.m.
 
Boothe is back in action at 3:30 p.m. in the shot put, followed by Ella Dolce, Riley Hunt and Audrey Wuerffel in the women's pole vault. Jeremiah closes the field event at 5:30 p.m. in the men's shot-put trials and final. Also at 5:30 p.m., Plummer, Hannah Connell, and Abega run in the 100-meter hurdles trials. Bourne and Steiner represent USF in the 110-meter hurdles shortly after.
 
La-Rose returns to the track at 6 p.m., along with Carolyn Brown, Victoria Valdez, Alyssa Wyatt, and Patricija Roshofa for the 800-meter run, followed by Benavides, Ezekiel Shore, and Troy Llanos in the men's competition.
 
In the 400-meter dash, Burton, Doneisha Anderson, Zahria Allers-Liburd, and Peterson all run for South Florida's women's team, while Reid, Elijah Wright, Daunte O'Banion, and Monte Parker run for the men's team.
 
Connell competes in the 100-meter dash trials at 7 p.m., followed by Lincoln, Croal, and Danelson Mahautiere at 7:15 p.m.
 
Sunday
The final day of the meet begins at 2:30 p.m. with Romaine Beckford, Kendell Mosley, and David Ajama competing in the men's high jump. Ashley, Johnson, and Robinson jump in the women's triple jump at the same time, while Brown competes in the discus throw.
 
Kobe Babin, Stone Baker and Noah Bitter jump in the men's pole vault at 3:30 p.m. The field events conclude with Ashely, Robinson, and McDaniel in the women's high jump, Ajama in the men's triple jump and Jeremiah in the discus, starting at 4:30 p.m.
 
The final day of track events begins with the 4x100 meter relay in both the men's and women's competitions. Both teams have moved up the program's all-time lists this year and will look to build on last year's success at the AAC Championships. 
 
The meet continues with finals in many events after trials earlier on Friday and Saturday. 
 
The meet closes with the 4x400 relays starting at 7:35 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 8:05 p.m.
 
About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-American selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
