Brian Bennett of ESPN.com has an extensive feature on George Selvie:

Selvie's always been an undersized defensive end who uses his speed and neverending motor to his advantage. Now he says he's worked his way up to 250 pounds for the first time ever after playing at just under 240 at the end of last season. He's targeting 255 by the fall, hoping that will make him harder for offensive tackles to push around.

Selvie also picked something up when the Pittsburgh Steelers trained at South Florida before their Super Bowl win over the Arizona Cardinals. He saw how Steelers linebacker James Harrison, the NFL's defensive player of the year, spent a lot of time stretching every day after he lifted weights.

"I hadn't done that before, but now I'm stretching, too," Selvie said. "I want to follow in their shadows and do everything they do because I want to be on their level someday."

? Greg Auman features a Q&A with new LBs coach David Blackwell in his blog.

? Auman breaks down some of the possible reasons that Jose Fernandez's Bulls were left out of the NCAA Tournament. He writes,"It seemed all but certain that USF's women's basketball team would be in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulls had spent an uneasy week on the bubble, but all the projections, all the number-crunching pointed to USF making the cut. You'd preface anything you said with "there's no way of knowing what the committee will do," but the week unfolded in a way that truly seemed to favor the Bulls.

The atmosphere at Jose Fernandez's Wesley Chapel home reflected that -- TV crews set up in his living room, his players in white USF polos seated on his couch, green-and-gold balloons all over. In the minutes leading up to the announcement, the larger question wasn't if, but where -- in Lubbock? in Duluth? on the West coast? I mentioned that one projection had the Bulls as a No. 10 seed, facing LSU in Baton Rouge in the opening round. "I'd take that," a USF assistant said, and I thought to myself that when a program has only been to the dance once in its history, there's no such thing as a bad NCAA draw."

? Brett McMurphy takes a look at the Bulls being left out the NCAA field of 64. He writes,"In the final weeks of the season, the University of South Florida celebrated each victory by grabbing a hammer, signed by the entire team, and pounding away. Each player and coach hammered a nail into a logo of that night's opponent into a 6-inch by 2-foot piece of wood. Coach Jose Fernandez's message: You can be the hammer or the nail."

? Greg Auman takes a look at the Bulls and why they did not make the NCAA Tournament. He writes,"Despite being projected by experts as making the cut for the NCAA Tournament, the Bulls were passed over when the field of 64 was announced Monday night, with only seven Big East teams chosen.

USF (22-10) is left for the consolation of the Women's NIT, the Bulls' fifth appearance there in the past six seasons. USF coach Jose Fernandez had set 22 wins as the magic number for his team, which closed the season strong with road wins against Rutgers, DePaul and Villanova."

? Seth Soffian of the Fort Myers News Press writes the Bulls that the Bulls will likely face Florida Gulf Coast in the second round of the WNIT on Saturday at 7 p.m.

? Greg Auman takes look and gives a Women's NCAA Tournament update plus looks at ex-Bulls in NCAAs. He writes,"Already, USF's women's basketball team has waited more than a week since their last game, but the Bulls now have less than a day before they find out if they'll play in the NCAA Tournament.

We told you there were three games Sunday with relevance to USF's hopes of getting an at-large berth, and things were complicated slightly by Bowling Green losing to Ball State in the Mid-American final. Bowling Green's 28 wins and comparable RPI make them another consideration for an at-large berth, but USF can be relieved that Stanford won the Pac-10 easily, and Wisconsin-Green Bay won its conference as well."
