? Brett McMurphy recaps last night's women's basketball win over Ole Miss last night at the Sun Dome. He
writes,"
After University of South Florida junior Janae Stokes made her first five shots, Ole Miss coach Renee Ladner finally saw a Stokes 3-pointer headed wide of the basket.
“Not this time, baby,” Ladner said.
Stokes heard Ladner's good-natured comment. After she missed, Stokes came over to the sideline, sharing a laugh and a hug with Ladner, who knew Stokes when she played in junior college."
? Greg Auman's recap of last night's win over the Rebels. He writes,"Senior guard Shantia Grace, playing on her home floor for perhaps the final time, had a game-high 18 points and seven assists to lead USF to a 74-57 win against Mississippi on Thursday night to advance to the quarterfinals of the Women's NIT.
The Bulls (24-10) have won back-to-back postseason games for the first time in their history, and will travel to face the winner of Thursday's Wisconsin-St. Bonaventure game, likely on Sunday. USF could still potentially host games in the final two rounds if the Bulls continue to win.
USF trailed by 10 in the first half and by two at halftime, but four starting seniors -- Grace, Jazmine Sepulveda, Jessica Lawson and Brittany Denson -- all scored in a 16-4 run to open the half, giving USF a 54-44 lead before a crowd of 636 in the Sun Dome."

? Kelli Polson of the Oralce features the friendship of men's tennis senior Mahmoud Hamed and freshman Wael Kilani. She writes," A strong, almost decade-long friendship is what helps Mahmoud Hamed and Wael Kilani lead the South Florida men's tennis team.
Sharing USF's best dual-singles record (10-3), Hamed and Kilani lead the No. 40 Bulls to face No. 67 New Mexico State today at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts at 2 p.m. and No. 27 Notre Dame Saturday in Indiana at 1 p.m.
“This friendship can help because it's good to have a good atmosphere on the team,” Kilani said."
? Will McLaughlin takes look at the streghten of softball freshman players. He writes" Throughout the season, USF's freshman class has played a role in the Bulls' success, and softball coach Ken Eriksen said he hopes the young members can carry it into Big East play.
The Bulls (27-13, 6-2) will host doubleheaders against Villanova (13-4, 0-0) and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-11, 1-1) this weekend at the USF Softball Field.
“When we go out and recruit players, we expect them to make contributions and play up to their potential immediately,” he said. “I had no doubt going into this season that our freshman class was capable of this, and they've all gotten better as the season has
gone along.”
? Rick Gossellin of the Dallas News writes about former Tyrone McKenzie's travels through his career. He writes,"When NFL teams see linebacker Tyrone McKenzie played at three different major colleges, the red flags go up.
McKenzie accepted a scholarship to Michigan State out of Riverview High School in Florida in 2004 and played as a true freshman. He transferred to Iowa State and sat out the 2005 season in accordance with NCAA rules, then started for the Cyclones in 2006. Then he transferred home to South Florida in 2007 and started two more seasons. He petitioned the NCAA for a hardship waiver that allowed him to play for the Bulls without sitting out a year."

? Brett McMurphy reports that the Bulls Like What They See In New Coaches. McMurphy writes," University of South Florida quarterback Matt Grothe has had only a few spring practices to work with new offensive coordinator Mike Canales, but Grothe likes ? no, make that, loves ? the new look.
"I love the new offense," Grothe said after Tuesday's practice. "The difference? It's kind of hard to explain. There are a lot of new ideas. I think I'm getting pushed more than I ever have been. I feel like I'm learning a lot."
? McMurphy also writes that this years USF senior class will honor former Bull Keely Dorsey in a very unique way. He writes,"Since University of South Florida freshman running back Keeley Dorsey died Jan. 17, 2007, his No. 10 jersey has not been worn at USF. That will change this fall.
A different USF senior will wear Dorsey's No. 10 jersey for each game to honor their former teammate, USF senior defensive end George Selvie and senior quarterback Matt Grothe said."

After transferring from Pearl River junior college, Marshall saw significant playing time last season as a sophomore when two-time All-American defensive end George Selvie suffered an ankle injury at Florida International on Sept. 20.
