Greg Auman features redshirt freshman Quarterback Evan Landi has become "Mr. Everything" this spring for the Bulls as the Coral Springs Product has taken reps at wide receiver, long snapper and even kicker in addition to his snaps under center but some saw Landi's future on the ice as a hockey player. Auman writes,"He has been the surprise star of spring football at USF, a freshman praised nearly daily by coach Jim Leavitt.

On Saturday, as the Bulls play their spring game at Raymond James Stadium, fans will get their first look at the versatile Evan Landi, a former all-state safety brought to USF to play quarterback who will also line up at receiver and even as holder on kicks.

Think the 6-foot-3, 214-pound freshman is versatile because he can line up nearly anywhere? You should see him on ice.''

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald list former Bulls Linebacker Tyrone McKenzie as the fourth best draft prospect out of Florida and in doing so compares McKenzie to a Derrick Brooks type player.

? Phil Neary of the Oracle previews baseball's Georgetown series. He writes,"USF coach Lelo Prado knows how important it is to recover from the Bulls' loss Tuesday.

USF looks to bounce back from a 12-10 loss to Jacksonville when they travels to Washington D.C., for a three-game series against Georgetown, starting today
at 1 p.m.

“In the overall picture, a loss like (Tuesday's) is huge for a team trying to make (a) regional,” Prado said. “Hopefully, we can get out of there with some wins.”

? Greg Auman's Daily Practice Report. In his report he writes,"In its final practice before Saturday's spring football game, USF's football team bounced back Wednesday with what coach Jim Leavitt said was "by far the best practice of the spring, not even close, across the board, everything."

"I think our coaches really got their attention," Leavitt said. "I was really happy. Maybe it's just getting ready for the spring game. We'll see what kind of mood they're in next week when we do two more after the spring game."

USF has two practices available, and Leavitt said the team will practice again Tuesday and Wednesday, giving a rare chance to follow up on good and bad things from Saturday's game."

Will McLaughlin of the Oracle features senior second baseman Britta Giddens, who has brought a winning mentality to the Bulls over her four year career at USF. He writes,"USF senior second baseman Britta Giddens knows a thing or two about playing softball, but in high school there was one thing she didn't know how to do.

“Before I came to USF, I didn't know how to lose,” Giddens said. “I expected to win the moment I got here because I didn't know what it was all about. The bottom line is that I just hate to lose.”

That was because of her high school career.

Giddens came to USF in 2005 from Bartow High School, which is known for its strong softball program. In her four years, Giddens won four state championships and lost only five games, earning her a spot in the Bartow High School Hall of Fame."

? After making a trip down to Tampa, ESPN.com BIG EAST Blogger Brian Bennett releases his first article after checking out the Bulls yesterday afternoon. He writes," South Florida has the two biggest returning stars in the Big East in quarterback Matt Grothe and defensive end George Selvie. But players you probably haven't heard of yet will likely determine how far these Bulls run this season.

"People will say we've got a shot to be decent because of Matt and George," head coach Jim Leavitt said after Tuesday's practice. "It seems like that's the way it will alway be. But there are question marks."

Heck, Leavitt isn't even sure how he's going to field a team for Saturday's spring game because of his offensive line situation.

The Bulls lost four starters from last year's offensive front and have been hampered by injuries this spring. Jake Sims, who started 10 games a year ago, has been out with a hand injury. Zach Hermann, another expected starter, is dealing with a concussion. Jeremiah Warren, who Leavitt figures will at least be a part of the rotation, is concentrating on his academics. And Sampson Genus, who was playing center with Sims out, hurt his knee. On Tuesday, Leavitt had every available offensive lineman snapping the ball."

? Chris Harry of the Orlando Sentinel talked at length with senior defensive end George Selvie writing that Selvie is looking to live up to the expectations in his final season. Harry writes," By the time the letter came from the NFL, the first two-time All-American in USF history swears his mind already was made up.

“I knew I was coming back,” George Selvie said.

The league's advisory board that makes recommendations to underclassmen gauging their potential draft status wasn't exactly floored by Selvie's tape following his junior season."

Joel Levanthal of the Oracle features women's tennis' Irene Rehberger. Since Rehberger came eligible February 24, the Transfer from Spain is 10-1 and is currently on a ten match winning streak. He writes,"When Irene Rehberger was 12 years old, she suffered an injury that changed the course of her life.

Though she played tennis a few times a week, her main focus was becoming a professional skier in Europe. However, that changed when she broke her femur in six places in France during a skiing accident.

“My sister (Christina) was a professional skier and competed in many tournaments,” Rehberger said. “I skied quite often and wanted to follow in her footsteps ? until I injured myself.”

Since 2001, the USF sophomore standout has committed herself to tennis."

? Phil Neary of the Oracle previews the week ahead for coach Lelo Prado and his Bulls as they travel to Jacksonville and then on to Georgetown. He writes," The Bulls are near the top of the Big East standings but will step away from conference play for the next couple of days.

USF has used a team effort to win five straight games and 12 of its last 15, building its momentum as the Bulls head into today's game at Jacksonville University  at 6:30 p.m.

“It starts with just everyone in the dugout, everyone staying up and pulling for each other,” said senior catcher Trey Manz, who hit a game-tying two-run home run in the ninth inning Sunday against Pittsburgh. “It's something that's really coming together, people finally starting to feel what it's like to play as a team.  It translates to wins on the field.”'

In his Blog, Greg Auman takes a look at the significace and where the 2009 WNIT Championship ranks among USF's all-time accomplishments. Auman writes,"Outside of the context of USF basketball history, it's easy to dismiss the Bulls' women's basketball team's WNIT championship as simply that -- an amazing run through a consolation tournament -- but in a historical sense, where does this run rank in the postseason history of USF basketball, and even USF athletics?"
