? Greg Auman talks with Bulls' head coach Stan Heath talk about Bulls' signee Jarrid Famous. Auman writes," ..."No doubt, he was the prize for us," Heath said Thursday in his first chance to comment on the 6-foot-11 junior college center, who signed with the Bulls. "We really had to add a significant frontcourt player, someone ready to go, someone who could take us to another level. ... When I saw him play, I knew he was the one."
Famous, giving his first public comments since committing to the Bulls on Sunday, shared all kinds of insights -- that he had favored USF ever since his visit there, that he plans on wearing No. 12 with the Bulls, and much more.
"It feels wonderful," Famous said Thursday. "After my visit, I sat down and went over everything. I just felt comfortable there, with my family there, with the way I got along with Coach Heath.""

? Will McLaughlin features softball's 2009 senior class as the Bulls prepare for their final home weekend when they host Providence. He writes,"Over the past four years, the 2009 softball senior class has achieved many postseason accomplishments. Now, it's hoping to solidify another postseason spot.
USF (30-20, 9-9) looks to clinch a place in the Big East tournament this weekend as it plays its final home series of the season, when the Bulls host a doubleheader against Providence (14-29, 6-9) on Friday at the USF Softball Field.
Before the game, the Bulls will honor five seniors who are playing their last home games: second baseman Britta Giddens, pitchers Cristi Ecks and Bree Spence, infielder Caitlin Schneider and catcher Liz Howell."
? In his blog, Greg Auman writes that Ken Eriksen is still hopeful for an NCAA at-large berth. He writes,"Even with a strong finish in its remaining four conference games, USF won't be seeded higher than fifth in the league tournament, which carries an automatic NCAA berth for the Big East champion. Eriksen said he feels an at-large berth is still in play if the Bulls can finish the season strong.
"I think there is, because if you look at the RPI," he said. "There are (30) automatics and (34) at-larges ... we're looking pretty decent. It's in our own hands, and we have an opportunity to win the conference tournament. Get there, win three straight and get some breaks. We're looking forward to it."
To do that, Eriksen will need a young lineup to produce runs when given the opportunity -- the Bulls are third in the Big East in hits, but ninth in RBIs -- and need the pitching staff to showcase the depth Eriksen liked entering the season."

That's one of the highest projections for McKenzie, who is projected as a fourth-round pick by ESPN.com's Mel Kiper Jr."
