? In his blog, Greg Auman takes looks Bulls' freshman first baseman Todd Brazeal as he is following Ryan Lockwood's freshman year by having an impressive rookie campaighn of his own. Auman writes,"One year after USF's Ryan Lockwood hauled in a slew of conference and even national all-freshman honors, another redshirt freshman is leading the way for the Bulls and making a case for similar accolades.

Todd Brazeal, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound first baseman from Tampa's Chamberlain High, has been a key part of  USF's 15-3 record in Big East play, leading the first-place Bulls in RBIs and extra-base hits in conference games."

? There is little dispute over the fact that Bulls' Defensive End George Selvie is a concenus first round draft pick for the 2010 NFL. In his blog, Greg Auman takes a look at the question of when and where Selvie will go in the first round, not if. Auman breaks down a hand full of early mock drafts as he writes," With analysis from this weekend's NFL Draft dying down, some sites are already looking ahead to 2010 and offering up extremely early mock drafts to get a sense of how next year's first round might look.

For USF fans, the question is where defensive end George Selvie will be taken -- having been projected as a potential first-rounder last fall, Selvie opted to return for his senior year after being told by the NFL's underclassmen advisory board that he didn't necessarily project as a first-day pick."

? Brian Bennett of ESPN.com writes this about the Bulls' quarterback situation for this coming fall in his BIG EAST Blog,": Jim Leavitt knew three-year starter Matt Grothe was going to make quarterback a hassle-free proposition this spring. Patriots' Head Coach Bill Belichick on Tyrone McKenzie
"I would just say that, of all the players that I talked to and we interviewed this year ? even through the years ? I would say that Tyrone is amongst the most impressive in maturity, intelligence, What he's done, with the opportunities he's had, or had to overcome, how he's approached them, how he's dealt with them, how he's made the most of them, it hasn't been easy. He's continued to excel and jump over hurdles and overcome obstacles that I think would have derailed a lot of other people or football players. I think he's very, very impressive, a mature, humble young man.”

In His Blog, Greg Auman talks with Tyrone McKenzie about being selected by the New England Patriot with the No. 97 pick in the draft. He writes," Tyrone McKenzie would have liked to hear his name perhaps a round earlier, but beyond that, the former USF linebacker is elated by his future in the NFL after being selected by the New England Patriots in the third round Sunday.

"It's the best thing that could have happened to me -- this is the best team in the NFL," said McKenzie, who watched the draft from his family's Riverview home. "It's always been a dream of mine, and now I'm living it. This is a tremendous honor for me."

? Also in his Blog, Auman writes,"USF seniors Taurus Johnson and Ryan Schmidt, passed over in this weekend's NFL Draft, have signed free-agent contracts with the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans, respectively.

? Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune features a good Q & A with Tyrone McKenzie

? Chris Grasper of the Boston Globe looks at the path that Tyrone McKenzie has taken in becoming a third round draft pick of the New England Patriots. He writes," McKenzie's path to professional football was a circuitous one that included stops at Michigan State, Iowa State, South Florida, and the hospitality industry. Usually, a prospect who was at three schools in five years would raise character concerns, but McKenzie's nomadic career was the result of his desire to put family before football."

Rich Thompson of the Boston Herald writes a similar article. He writes,"Tyrone McKenzie willingly walked away from two positive college football experiences to manage a pair of traumatic homecomings.

The Patriots vigorously stress character issues in their rookie selection process, and McKenzie satisfied those criteria when the Pats selected the University of South Florida strong side linebacker in the third round (97th overall) of yesterday's NFL draft."
